At Las Palmas Medical Center, the pediatric service line starts in the Emergency Room and is then divided in to General Pediatrics and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
Medical Director of Emergency Services Randy Goldstein, MD, FACEP, FAAP, is Board Certified in Emergency Medicine and Pediatrics. Dr. Goldsteins second residency in Pediatrics gives him added expertise in the management of children that seek care in the Emergency Department. Dr. Goldstein is a fellow of the American College of Emergency Medicine and the American Academy of Pediatrics. He also holds an appointment as an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine at Texas Tech and is an instructor in ACLS, PALS and APLS. He was also Chief Resident in Pediatrics at the Medical College of Virginia and in Emergency Medicine at Texas Tech in El Paso.
Las Palmas Medical Center has enlisted Dr. Hassan Salloum to serve as a Pediatric Hospitalist. Dr. Salloum works with area Pediatricians to take care of their patients at Las Palmas from admission to discharge. Dr. Salloum is Board Certified in Pediatrics and received his medical education from the Damascus University School of Medicine Damascus, Syria. He conducted research in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at the University of Paris VII, St. Louis Hospital, Paris, France. Dr. Salloum is currently Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Texas Tech El Paso, is Co-Director for Texas Tech Physician Associates Murchison Clinic and Co-Director for the Residency Program, Providence Hospital. Dr. Salloum is fluent in French, Arabic, English and Spanish.
The Las Palmas Medical Center Pediatric Transport Team is a group of highly trained professionals to include RNs and Respiratory Therapist who are on call 24/7 to transport children from general Pediatric Units across El Paso, Southern New Mexico, and other parts of the Southern US to our Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.
